Living Above the News

Daniel and I are headed to Brazil. We will visit for two weeks, which will include celebrating Brazil's Independence Day (Sept. 7) . It is winter time there, so maybe it is a few degrees cooler. And, no, we are not going to the beach, but there is plenty of sun and the 15-story apt building where my mother-in-law lives has a nice pool and that wonderful eucalyptus spa! In lieu of writing a lot pre-trip (because I don't have time), I thought I'd publish some historical info and fascinating facts that I found on the internet. Isn't the internet awesome! I don't know how we lived before it came to be. This trip, we will be visiting Caldas Novas (the hot springs) again and going to a new state to visit an uncle who owns an ice cream shop! They have fun ice cream flavors in Brazil! I also hope to go to a coffee factory since this is popular in that state. We'll log in when we can and send blog updates. I was trying to be healthy and decided to buy some protein bars, You know, try them out, to see which one I liked best. One such bar is called Greens and Whey. The one I bought was  chocolate-coated peanut butter , which should be a bit of a taste of heaven. But--the Greens and Whey, and maybe the green package should have been a warning flag! I was having a chocolate attack, and since I'm trying to be good, decided to try my new protein bar. I bit into that bar and just about gagged! And to top it off, it's all green inside. Yuck!   This is a note to self that I thought I should share. Now, to continue the search for good-tasting chocolate...   I hope your day is better than mine. Maybe you have a smile now.
