Six Flags Over Jesus

I went to a Buckhead hair salon yesterday and the shampoo guy was making the usual small talk— where are you from, where do you work , etc. Having worked in the Ministry for so long, many times I’ve already gauged the person and conversation and kind of know whether to give an ‘in your face” answer or a gentle answer when they get to the where do you work question. I told him I work at In Touch. He asked, “what’s that?” Since I suspected this guy was going to freak anyway, I decided to give him the full throttle answer— It’s a global ministry. “Oh, that’s that huge place on the side of the interstate! It’s like its own city!” he exclaimed. (We determined that it was indeed In Touch he was talking about.) Then he said, “My friends call that place Six Flags Over Jesus.” And he was a bit hysterical. As I laughed and told him my co-workers will be interested to hear that nickname, I said, “Well, we do have the flags out front.” He then got in front of me and knelt down a bit to get a goo...
