Thankfulness
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (Colossians 2:6-7)
I am overflowing with thankfulness this Thanksgiving season. Even though so many crazy things are happening in the world and in my life, I still have much for which to be thankful. Yes, if I focus on things that are going crazy (the daily news grind), things I don't understand (such as health issues), things that I have prayed for time and time again (like my single friends who want to get married)--I can let myself get down or start asking God "why"--but I am choosing to not focus on those things, at least not right now. I am choosing to focus on the fact that I have been adopted as a member of the family of the Prince of Peace.
Anyway, as this overflowing of thankfulness is happening, I want to report a couple of things that are happening in my life. Number one--In Touch is setting up a research dept and they are pulling out the two of us in Development and Foundation who do research and putting us in this new department, along with another man who was recently hired in Marketing. I have no idea how this will look, where we'll be, or exactly what all we will do, but it sounds exciting. You know how I love doing research. I should know more in a couple of weeks.
Also, please pray for my church. The elders made an announcement yesterday and we are in the midst of a leadership change.
As the verse above says, no matter what is happening--continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith--and overflowing with thankfulness.
Please know that we will be thanking the Lord for you as we gobble up our turkey on Thursday. Please keep in touch and have a thank-filled Thanksgiving. Blessings!
