Catching Up
This year has gone by incredibly fast for us. We hope life is good for you. We’re doing great. We have fantastic friends and we love our families.
Professional Interests—We’re both doing well at our jobs. Daniel has been on two business trips to Denver. In Touch has a new Chief Operating Officer. I am still in the Marketing Dept, but they continue to move folks around. I do research and reporting and have been involved in several fascinating projects this year. I am also doing some proposal writing for a ministry to youth called Go Tell.
Daniel is still leading the band at church and leading praise and worship with Megan, the vocal team leader. I wish everyone could hear them every week. They are out of this world!
Citizenship—Our biggest news of the year was in April when Daniel became a citizen. It was something we’ve been working on since we were married.
Brazil Trip and Family Guests— In late August we took vacation for two weeks to Brazil to visit family. We had such an awesome time that we didn’t want it to end. My mom and two of my aunts came to visit us in early August.
New Focus— I had previously been interested (shall we say “addicted”?) to following politics, but have recently become “fed up” with it. I still follow it some, but it just sickens me now. Maybe I should go back to focusing only on discipleship and music. Life was a lot less stressful then. I will say this though—if I hear one more Hollywood actor share his opinion on Iraq, I’m going to scream! I want to say to them: In case you guys hadn’t noticed, you’re actors. That does not make you an expert in politics by any stretch of the imagination.
Answering the Questions Everyone Always Asks—Still no kids. Still no pets. If the kid thing ever happens, I promise I’ll send an email. You guys will be the first to know. Well, maybe the second. I think I’m almost sold on the idea of having one by now. We get all these adorable pictures of people and their kids or pets. I told Daniel I guess we can send a picture of our TV in a card. Wouldn’t that be special?
Helder and Rebecca— Daniel’s close friend and fellow bandmate at church got married on Dec. 9. We’re happy for them; they make a cute couple. [I’m glad you two brought warm weather back with you from Key West!]
New Pastor—Cumberland is expecting grand things in 2007! Our church has a new pastor starting January 7. He’s Alan Scott and he’s coming to us from a church in Denver, Colorado, that has three services each weekend. He’s spoken a couple of times at the church and I downloaded some of his sermons onto my iPod.
iPod=Perfect Pet— Speaking of the iPod, I must say I’ve grown quite attached to that little creature. Maybe I’ll call it my pet. If you think about it, it’s the perfect pet. It takes very little care or feeding. It doesn’t make messes. You can’t be allergic to it. You don’t have to train it and it doesn’t talk back It’s quiet when you want it to be. It causes much joy and is always around. See, the perfect pet and quite possibly my person of the year.
